Roca presents the 11 finalist projects that entered the 3rd edition of the International Design Contest Jump the Gap

Roca presents the names of the 11 projects chosen as finalists in the 3rd edition of the International Design Contest Jump the Gap, which will be held as part of the London 100% Design Trade Fair.

The jury, made up of well-known people from the world of architecture and design, such as John Pawson, Héctor Serrano, Carlos Ferrater, Josep Congost, Alfredo Häberli, Carlos Lamela, Alberto Meda and Chantal Haimade, has chosen the most innovative projects from the 382 that were entered. The finalists are as follows:

1)       Active & Relax Bathroom by Michal Mitek (Poland)

2)       Box by Clara del Portillo and Alejandro Selma (Spain)

3)       Breathing Bathtub by Xi Li (China)

4)       Eroded Roca by Ula Iruretagoiena and  Amaia Lizarraga (Spain)

5)       Exedra Serie by Isabel Francoy and Érika Choquet (Spain)

6)       Free Bath by Danil Gavrish and Yuri Uimanov (Russia)

7)       Integration by Pierre Chauvency and Arshaad Khodabuccus (France)

8)       Relaxation bath with variable volume by Petr Kubik (Czech Republic)

9)       The Roca Landscape by Yar Rassadin (Russia)

10)   Waterdrop Shower Room by Wu Chenghou (China)

11)   Waterwear by Paulo Gouveia and Pedro Guimarães (Portugal)

The 11 finalists come from 7 different countries, headed by Spain, with three projects; China and Russia follow Spain on the list, with two projects each. The Czech Republic, France, Poland and Portugal complete the list of countries of origin of the chosen projects.

The name of the winning project will be revealed on 24th September, coinciding with the beginning of the 100% Design Trade Fair, a reference international meeting place for professionals in design, interior design and architecture, that is held in London.

About Jump the Gap

Roca likes to encourage new talents which is why it has set up initiatives such as the International Design Contest Jump the Gap, in collaboration with the Barcelona Design Centre (BCD), aimed at young architects and designers, which offers the possibility for the winning project and its author to be got to known internationally.  

The winning project will be awarded 5,000 euros and, if the characteristics are suitable, a prototype of the project will be produced at Roca’s installations, in addition to a study being carried out with regard to its possible development and commercialisation in the future.
