Roca Barcelona Gallery hosts several events during the 2010 BCN Design Week

From 18 to 22 October, the BCD (Barcelona Design Centre) held its 2010 BCN Design Week in Barcelona (2010 Barcelona International Design Week). As in previous years, and within the usual collaboration framework between BCD and Roca, some of the events took place in the innovative Roca Barcelona Gallery building.

The Barcelona Design Week International Convention, focusing on leading edge art, culture and design, brought together entrepreneurs and professionals from around the world. This year the initiative held its fifth edition under the title "Facing New Challenges Through Design". Building on such a significant milestone celebration, BCD took the opportunity to present the "Barcelona Design Manifesto Against the Crisis”, an initiative that vindicates design as one of the core driving values behind the Barcelona brand and as one of the key contributors to the importance of the Barcelona Design brand.

Roca, an industry reference in design and a world leader in the definition of bathroom spaces, conveys through its products and initiatives, two of their main values; design and innovation. The close relationship that Roca has with institutions linked to the world of design and architecture such as the BCD and the FAD (Promotion of Arts and Design) are proof of that.

BCN Design Week is just one example of the various initiatives in which Roca and BCD collaborate. Of these, the most significant at international level is the Jump the Gap International Design Competition (www.jumpthegap.net), organized by Roca in conjunction with the BCD. Its main objective is to offer young professionals and students of design and architecture around the world a platform on which to display their talent, giving them the opportunity to show their proposals at international level.
