The 4th edition of the Jump the Gap International Design Contest receives 3005 registrations
The inscription process for entry submissions to the fourth edition of the Jump The Gap International Design Contest, presented by Roca within the framework of the London 100% Design trade fair on the 23rd September last year, ended on the 31st January. This year’s edition has generated unprecedented interest, with 3,004 entry submissions received from 92 countries.
These figures confirm the success of this initiative, promoted by Roca, at international level, which year after year attracts an increasing number of students and young architects and designers from all over the world.
Aside from a bigger volume of submissions versus the previous year's edition, (which received 2,700), the fourth edition of the Jump The Gap contest is by far its most international to date, with entries from participants in 92 countries, led by Poland, Spain and South Korea.
With the inscription process closed, participants in the competition have until the 29th April 2011 to present their projects. From that date onwards the judges panel, presided by the architect Ron Arad and comprised of leading lights from the world of architecture and design such as Gilda Bojardi, Javier Mariscal, Marcel Wanders, John Anthony Sahs and Tomek Rygalik, will make their finalists shortlist. The name of the winner will be announced next September in London, the venue chosen for this year’s awards ceremony.
The Jump The Gap International Design Contest, created by Roca in conjunction with the BDC (Barcelona Design Center), is targeted at professionals and students of architecture and design under the age of 35 from any country around the world. The event provides an important launch platform for young talent, both in Spain and abroad.
